Leonard Norman Cohen CC GOQ (September 21, 1934 – November 7, 2016) was a Canadian artist, lyricist, performer, artist, writer, and painter. His work investigated religion, legislative issues, seclusion, sexuality, and individual relationships.
Cohen was enlisted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He was a Companion of the Order of Canada, the country's most noteworthy non military personnel respect. In 2011, Cohen got one of the Prince of Asturias Awards for writing and the ninth Glenn Gould Prize.
Cohen sought after a profession as a writer and author amid the 1950s and mid 1960s; he didn't dispatch a music vocation until 1967, at 33 years old. His first collection, Songs of Leonard Cohen (1967), was trailed by three more collections of society music: Songs from a Room (1969), Songs of Love and Hate (1971) and New Skin for the Old Ceremony (1974). His 1977 record Death of a Ladies' Man was co-composed and delivered by Phil Spector, which was a move far from Cohen's past moderate sound. In 1979, Cohen came back with the more conventional Recent Songs, which mixed his acoustic style with jazz and Oriental and Mediterranean impacts. Maybe Cohen's most well known melody, "Thank heaven" was first discharged on his studio collection Various Positions in 1984. I'm Your Man in 1988 denoted Cohen's swing to integrated preparations and remains his most mainstream collection. In 1992, Cohen discharged its development, The Future, which had dull verses and references to political and social distress.
Cohen came back to music in 2001 with the arrival of Ten New Songs, which was a noteworthy hit in Canada and Europe. His eleventh collection, Dear Heather, followed in 2004. After an effective series of visits in the vicinity of 2008 and 2010, Cohen discharged three collections in the last four years of his life: Old Ideas (2012), Popular Problems (2014) and You Want It Darker (2016), the remainder of which was discharged three weeks previously his passing.
